PALM COAST, Fla. – An 18-year-old Palm Coast woman was arrested Thursday evening on a charge of aggravated battery on a person older than 65 following a disagreement with her grandmother, deputies said.

Mary Lee, 80, told deputies that around 5:30 p.m., her granddaughter, Jestina Lee, pushed her outside a shed in the backyard of Mary Lee's home, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The grandmother said that when the incident occurred, she had walked outside to see what the teen was doing in the shed. She told deputies that when she questioned Jestina Lee, the younger woman pushed her in the chest area with both hands, causing the elder Lee to fall backwards over a chair and onto the ground, investigators said. She declined medical attention and filed the complaint, deputies said.

The teen left the scene when she was alerted that deputies were responding, according to the Sheriff's Office. She was arrested about four hours later when she returned to the home.

The teen was booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility, where she was being held Friday on $1,000 bond.

"It is unfortunate that this situation escalated to the point that deputies were needed, but it is fortunate there were no serious injuries that resulted from this apparent family disagreement," Sheriff Jim Manfre said.
