Deputies try to ID man in car burglary at Value Pawn

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies in Clay County are trying to identify a man they believe burglarized a car at a Value Pawn last month.

Investigators said the man seen in surveillance photos, as well as another man were at the business at 683 Blanding Blvd. trying to sell an item and then left.

While they were leaving, they went into the victim's vehicle that had a window rolled down and stole her purse that was inside of the car, deputies said.

The man then tried to use the victim's credit card at various locations in Orange Park and Jacksonville, deputies said.

"This case is another example of the need to secure personal belongings in vehicles, no matter how long a driver will be away from the car or how close a driver may be to that vehicle," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. "Thieves will seize upon any opportunity to separate a victim from his/her valuables. So if you like it, lock it."
