Driver killed in Northside crash

FHP says pickup truck turned left into path of car on U.S. 1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 60-year-old woman was killed Friday morning when his car was struck by pickup that had gone through a red light, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say Anita Hoobler was headed south on U.S. Highway 1 going through a green light at the intersection of Dunn Avenue when a northbound pickup truck driven by Kevin Thomas, 48, of Callahan, proceeded to turn left into the path of Hoobler's Honda.

According to the FHP report, says Hoobler was pronounced dead at the scene and Thomas was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
