The driver of one car then lost control of his vehicle, striking a bench near the intersection of Normandy Drive and East Hancock Drive where the 5-year-old boy was waiting with his father, sister and another man for a bus. The driver then drove away.

The injured 5-year-old boy was flown to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach to be treated for a broken femur and several abrasions.

No one else was injured.

The suspected car was described as a late 1990s or early 200s gold, four-door Chrysler Sebring with heavy damage to the passenger side. The driver is described as a light-skinned Hispanic man in his early 20s with a shaved head, according to deputies.

Deputies are also looking for the other car involved to get information on the incident, described as a green pickup truck with a camper top and several veterans stickers on the back and a memorial sticker on it that says "Cody Kuffner, 1988 – 2008."
