JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Duval County School Board could vote to close a small Jacksonville charter school, because it doesn't have enough students.
Scholar Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free public charter school teaching grades K-5 and just opened its doors this year. It's located on Southside Boulevard where the district once operated the Bank of America Learning Academy.

As of last Monday, the school had only 93 students enrolled, according to the district. That's short of the minimum number the school needs to have a balanced budget.
The school district said some of the school's employees also failed to get fingerprint and background screenings done before the school year began.
The school also failed to provide records in compliance with the law.
If the board votes to shut down the school, the administration must close the doors within 90 days, but it can appeal.
