George Edenfield appears in court for a competency hearing.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - A judge has signed an order finding George Edenfield incompetent to stand trial.

Edenfield, 38, is accused of kidnapping, raping and killing 6-year-old Christopher Barrios in 2007.

His competency will be reviewed again in a year. For now, he's remanded to the custody of the state mental health facility.

Edenfield admitted to taking part in the crime, according to police, but over the years, he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

This is just the latest in a long history of court appearances.

Edenfield's father, David, was sentenced to death for his part in the murder, and his mother, Peggy, received 60 years in prison.
