JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville family is pleading for help, asking for help finding whoever ran over and killed a 25-year-old man back in May.
Police said Michael England, 25, was killed at the intersection of Pitts and Slay Road in the Dinsmore area of Jacksonville while walking home.
"We have no idea why someone would do this and then flee the scene," said England's mother, Bridge Massie. "My son was 25, he loved life. He had so much going for him. He never met a stranger. Everybody was a friend to him."
Bridget Massie told Channel 4 that detectives said whoever killed England not only hit him, but then ran over him as well.
"We are looking for a truck with brush guard or a custom bumper that has hit him," said Massie.
Family and friends have struggled to keep the public's attention on this case. They said someone has even thrown some of the Crime Stopper signs they put out in the ditch.
Despite that the family says they won't stop their search.
"I'm very upset over it," said Ron Amic. "How can you leave someone laying in road like that? At least get medical help for him."
"It has been a struggle to deal with it, to cope with it. I can't sleep," said Massie.
Police are asking anyone with information about England's death to call Crime Stoppers, 1-866-845-TIPS.
