Fire destroys triple-wide mobile home

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. – A fire destroyed a triple-wide mobile home in Keystone Heights early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 5900 block of Campo Drive just before 5 a.m. They said the fire was visible from the front of the home when they arrived and spread quickly into the attic space of an add-on roof that covered the 3,900-square-foot home.

Because of the unavailability of fire hydrants in the rural area, mutual aid water tenders were called from the surrounding area fire departments.

Damages to the home were estimated to be about $40,000.

According to Clay Electric, the power had been cut off on Oct. 30 and the service line that was cut and coiled up at the base of the pole had been rerouted and connected to another service line.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

The three occupants of the home escaped without injury. The American Red Cross was on scene to provide assistance to the family.
