Florida first lady visits St. Augustine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gov. Rick Scott is hoping to win re-election when voters go to the polls later this year, and Monday night Florida's First Lady, Ann Scott, was helping to firm up some of the governor's support.

The first lady delivered the keynote speech at the St. Johns County Federated Republican Women Installation dinner Monday night. The dinner was at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine.

Ann Scott made it a point to remind the people at the dinner how important they are to the political process, especially the women.

"We do outnumber the men, but I think it's wonderful that women are so engaged in the political process," Ann Scott said. "And these women are so dynamic and so determined to make sure the right thing happens. They'll work very hard to put the word out and make sure the governor is re-elected."

In the last Quinnipiac Poll on the Florida governor's race, Charlie Crist, now running as a democrat, led Rick Scott 46 percent to 38 percent.
