Funeral held for hit-and-run victim

Anthony Margadonna arrested Dec. 29

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A funeral is held for a 13-year-old Middleburg boy who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in November.

The family of Brien Alvezios held his funeral Saturday at the Branan Field Baptist Church.

"Brien was my angel," said his mother, Jenny Alvezios. "I don't know if I'll ever be able to get over his passing."

"My soul is missing now. Every day I'm sad," said his father, Jack Alvezios. "But, I know in my heart that Brien is in the hands of the Lord."

Alvezios was killed on Branan Field Road just south of Trail Ridge Road on Nov. 26.

Anthony Margadonna, 22, has been charged with hitting Alvezios.

Channel 4 learned Margadonna has over a dozen traffic citations in Duval and Clay County in the past six years, including two citations for careless operation of a motor vehicle.  He also was arrested twice on misdemeanor marijuana possession.

The family said they would like to thank everyone in the community for their support, especially the Justice Coalition, which offered a reward for an arrest in the case.
