JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A group of supporters held a rally and fundraiser for Marissa Alexander on Saturday.
The group says they still support Alexander and other victims who suffer from domestic abuse.
"Marissa is very positive. She is my light. She keeps me strong and is always motivating us," said Helena Jenkins. "She really can't grasp all the support she has because she is behind bars."
The event raised $500.
A jury convicted Alexander of aggravated assault for firing what she said was a warning shot during an argument with her estranged husband.
Last month, a judge sentenced her to 20 years in prison based on Florida's "10-20-Life" law.
