Holocaust survivor, Ponte Vedra Beach resident dies

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – A Ponte Vedra Beach woman who survived the Holocaust then dedicated her life to teaching others about it has died.

Helena Zuber was Catholic and joined the French Resistance as a teenage girl. She was then imprisoned by the Nazis at one of their death camps.

When the camp was liberated, Zuber met her future husband, one of the soldiers who had come to free the prisoners.

Zuber often spoke to school groups around northeast Florida and touched many lives, including members of the Jewish community and countless school-aged children.
