JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A homeless family that had trouble enrolling a child in a Jacksonville school says the 10-year-old boy has since been able to enroll.
The fiancee of the boy's father said she had been trying to enroll the boy at Carter G. Woodson Elementary School but said the school was stonewalling her, even though she had a letter from the district saying the boy could be enrolled in school.
The woman said that Tuesday evening she went to the school and spoke to the principal, and the principal told her the boy could enroll the next day.
The woman said she was not given an explanation and did not have to give the principal any paperwork.
When Channel 4 initially asked the school district about the family's situation, it said it couldn't comment on this particular issue because of privacy laws.
