HASTINGS, Fla. – Deputies in St. Johns County are investigating the hit-and-run death of a 53-year-old man Saturday night.
Deputies said they responded to the 400 block of Federal Point Road in Hastings just before 10 p.m. after receiving reports there was a person possibly injured and lying on the side of the road.

Once deputies arrived, they found Stephon Sweet dead.
Evidence located at the scene indicated Sweet was struck by a vehicle, deputies said.
Investigators said they located a witness who said she saw what she believed was a maroon or red Chevy S-10 pickup truck in the area. Deputies believe the driver may not have been aware he or she hit anything at the time.
The Medical Examiner ruled the death accidental by blunt force trauma.
