BUNNELL, Fla. – A man awaiting trial on charges of attacking someone with a machete was arrested again after Flagler County deputies say he had phone conversations with former inmates attempting to hire them to kill a witness in his case.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Roodlyn Mompremier engaged in several recorded conversations with fellow inmates asking to have a witness in his current court case killed. Detectives listened to multiple jail phone calls made by Mompremier offering up to $10,000 to perform the hit.

"Our detectives conducted a thorough investigation which revealed this individual was serious about having the witness murdered. It is a disturbing case and one we've taken seriously," said Sheriff James Manfre.

Mompremieris was being held at the Flagler County Detention Facility on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for assaulting an individual with a machete last July.  On Tuesday he was also charged with solicitation to commit murder and tampering with a witness, victim or informant.
