7-year-old will get to play with NBA superstar before Saturday's game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – He's 7 years old and is fighting cancer for the fourth time. But on Saturday, Christopher Singleton will get to forget his troubles and fulfill his lifelong dream of meeting LeBron James, and it's all thanks to Jacksonville firefighters.

Christopher wore his pajamas Friday for Polar Express Day at school. But he's worn pajamas far too often in the hospital fighting cancer.

His mom, Leslie Singleton, has watched him fight it four times since he was 2. The cancer started in his kidney and right now is in his brain.

"I have my days, but for the most part you just get up and go. You have to," Leslie said.

Christopher loves sports and plays baseball in a local league. His coach is a Jacksonville firefighter and worked with the Jacksonville Association of Firefighters to fulfill Christopher's dream of meeting his basketball hero.

"He runs fast. He makes good slam dunks, and he always makes good two-pointers," Christopher said of the NBA superstar James.

And Christopher will get to play with James before Saturday's Miami Heat game.

"I'm so happy that I get to meet LeBron James and play on the court and play basketball with him," Christopher said.

It's just the kind of treat a 7-year-old fighting a battle daily to survive needs.
