2 injured in motorcycle crash

Rider was wearing helmet; passenger was not

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A passenger on a motorcycle was critically injured early Saturday morning after the rider lost control and hit a curb, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police say shortly after midnight Saturday a motorcycle carrying two people crashed on Driftwood Creek Drive, near Dunn Avenue. The passenger was ejected and struck a nearby light pole.

Both were were taken to UF Health, with the passenger reported to be in critical condition.  Their names were not released.

Police said the driver was wearing a helmet, but the passenger was not.

According to JSO, alcohol may be a factor in the incident and the Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.
