JSO: Woman points handgun at victims as young as 12

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has asked for the public's help in helping to identify an armed woman who robbed a victim of her purse at a hotel.

Police said three victims -- ages 12, 14 and 18 -- left a room about 1 a.m. on July 17 at the Super 8 on East Youngerman Circle.

A woman approached the victims while in the stairwell and pointed a handgun at the head of the 12-year-old girl, police said.

After the girl failed to comply with the woman's demands, investigators said, the woman placed the gun in the face of the 14-year-old victim. Police said one of the victims gave the woman her purse.

The woman fled on foot toward Blanding Boulevard, police said.

The victims described the robber as a black woman in her mid-20s who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. Police said the woman had rectangle-shaped glasses, big lips and crooked teeth, described as "pointing out of her mouth." The gun was described by police as being a black semi-automatic handgun.
