JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A fire broke out at a house on Riverpoint Road Saturday in the city’s Empire Point neighborhood.
Fire crews were called to the property around 4 p.m., officials said.
When crews arrived, the house was engulfed in flames and black smoke was seen billowing out.
Officials said they believe the fire may have started in the garage.
The homeowner's daughter said that her parents were out of town vacationing when the fire erupted.
A neighbor told News4Jax that when they realized what was happening, they rushed outside and could hear the house falling apart.
Fire officials said they don't know if the homeowners will be able to return to their home.
There were two cars in the garage when the fire started. Fire officials said both cars were destroyed by the fire.
There were no reported injuries.
