JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a 13-year-old killed in a hit-and-run crash held a fundraiser Saturday to help pay for his funeral.

Brien Alvezios, 13, was riding along Branan Field Road near Trail Ridge Road on Nov. 26th when a SUV hit him and took off.  Alvezios died at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are still searching for the driver.

His family held a fundraiser at the All Star Sports Bar & Grill in Fleming Island, which donated 10 percent of Saturday's proceeds to the family.

"I just want my son back. I want him back and I want whoever took him to just at least admit what they did," said Jenny Alvezios.

Brian's mother is struggling to cope with her son's death.

"I have sharp pains in my heart and I'm numb everywhere. I pass out all over the floor. I can't walk. I need help walking. I'm having a hard time," said Jenny Alvezios.

"There's a hole in my soul and my heart's broke and it's hard. No Christmas this year," said Jack Alvezios, Brian's father.

The Middleburgh community has rallied around the family. Etched Impressions in Jacksonville donated a headstone.

"I want to thank the community and everybody who's helped me. I appreciate it so much," said Jenny Alvezios. "Everybody has done so much for us. It's a wonderful thing that everybody has done."

The family again pleaded for the driver to come forward.

"He didn't deserve to die. Please come forward. Please. I beg you to come forward because I'm hurting and it's not going to get better until I know who did this," said Brian's mother.

Donations to help the family pay for a funeral can be made to Ameris Bank. The account number is 2048540948.

The family is also holding a silent auction on my9oh4.com.
