Funeral honors 'life everyone should emulate'

Jerry Brown killed week ago in drive-by shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Friends and family packed the Evangel Temple Assembly of God Saturday to honor the life of 22-year-old Jerry Brown. They say while it was a life cut far too short, it's a life everyone should try to emulate.

"Lovable. He wanted to see everybody just do right and be right. Just, he's just was heartfelt. He loved. He left church, I just wanted everybody to have love and a smile. On your worst day, he wanted everybody to smile," Chris Anderson said.

Saturday's service was a celebration of life. Of a life filled with helping others and trying to be the best he could be. One of the people speaking at the service made sure people knew that Jerry Brown, while his body may be gone, is more alive than ever. His mind and his soul with God.

"Nothing but love. That lets you know what he had for everybody. Love, and I appreciate everybody showing up and coming out to support him," Anderson said.

Police are still searching for suspects in Jerry Brown's shooting. If you have any information, you are asked to call Crime stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
