Jacksonville man, 35, wins $3M scratch-off prize

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A 35-year-old Jacksonville man has claimed a $3 million prize in the Super Millions scratch-off game.

Matthew Awet chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $2,158,291.20.

Awet purchased his winning ticket at Powers Discount Beverage, located at 6125 Powers Ave. on the Southside. The retailer will receive a bonus commission of $6,000 for selling this winning ticket.

Super Millions, which launched in March, is currently one of the Florida Lottery's top-selling scratch-off games. The $20 game features more than $300 million in total cash prizes and 6.7 million winning tickets. There are seven top prizes of $3 million remaining.

The game's overall odds of winning are one-in-2.97.
