JaxPort board agrees to hire new CEO

Last candidate turned down offer

Containerized freight comprises the bulk of business for the Jacksonville Port Authority.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Port Authority board of directors unanimously voted Monday to hire Brian Taylor as its new chief executive officer.

This is the second candidate offered the job after a nationwide search to replace Paul Anderson, who resigned last fall to become CEO of the Port of Tampa.

In May, deputy director of the Port of Miami, withdrew his name from consideration after JaxPort offered him the CEO position.

Taylor, a longtime Horizon Lines executive, is the sales and operations manager with a track record of building high-performance teams in a maritime organizations.

Most recently, Taylor (pictured, right) was senior vice president of sales and operations for New Breed Logistics in High Point, N.C.

Taylor has served around the world during his 30-year career and holds a MBA in in Economics and Financial Management from Concordia University in Montreal.

The JaxPort board directed that contract negotiations open with Taylor immediately.
