JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police say a 48-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in the death of the woman who lived next door.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced that Dennis Glover was charged in the May 30 death of 51-year-old Sandra Allen. Police say officers responding to a report of screams coming from Allen's home in the 2300 block of west Fourth Avenue her stabbed several times in the neck and strangled.
According to the arrest report, Glover eventually admitted to officers that he was had a sexual relationship with Allen and that he was in her home in the 2300 block of Fourth Avenue that day.
Detectives said he was arrested after DNA analysis confirmed traces of Allen's blood were found in Glover's shoes.
"When first contacted, Glover gave conflicting accounts of how he came in contact with the victim," JSO Homicide Lt. Rob Schoonover said. " DNA evidence later on proved that he was at the scene of the murder, and he was arrested Tuesday night by our SWAT team and charged with murder."
After his arrest, Glover (pictured, right) invoked his right to remain silent. He remains in the Duval County jail, held without bond.
