JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - David Huber is a professional photographer in Jacksonville. He's also a registered sex offender in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database.
Channel 4 investigated a tip that Huber was taking pictures of teenagers, some in scanty attire, including a 14-year-old girl. After alerting the Department of Corrections that photos posted on Huber's business website included what appeared to be juveniles in bathing suits and lingerie, Huber was questioned last week.
While the 34-year-old photographer claimed that all his clients were aware of his status, his probation officer found the 14-year-old's mother did not know until she says Huber asked her to lie about it, if asked.
State officials verified Huber had at least eight sessions with that teen and at least one with another girl only 16 years old.
Other photographers at the Northside studio where Huber worked were apparently also unaware Huber was a convicted sex offender.
"I don't know anything about him. All I do is rent space in here, so I can take pictures as well," said one of roughly a dozen other photographers work out of TTL Studio.
Others at the studio are concerned that Huber's arrest could damage the studio's reputation.
Huber was convicted in 2006 for possessing 15 photos of a child engaged in a sexual act. When he was released from prison in April 2009 he was put on sex offender probation and ordered by the court not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18.
The probation officer also learned Huber was not keeping up his court-ordered payments. Huber was arrested Monday on charges of violating his probation and booked into the Duval County jail. He was being held without bond pending a hearing before a judge.
"Thank you for contacting us about this situation and respecting the investigation process," wrote Misty Cash, of the Florida Department of Corrections, in an email to WJXT.
Huber made his first appearance in court Tuesday. His next court date is set for Dec 9.
