Police identify body found in woods off I-10

Jacksonville police say officers, K-9 looking for evidence came upon body

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police using a K-9 searching for evidence in a recent crime Friday morning found a body of a man in his early 30s in a ditch off Interstate 10, near the intersection with Roosevelt Boulevard.

Saturday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identified the man as 28-year-old Terrance C. Taylor.

Police was Taylor was the suspect in an aggravated assault several days earlier who had been reported missing.

Homicide detectives were sent to the area just before noon Friday after the body was found in woods on Florida Department of Transportation property. It is well off the highway and closer to homes on Center Street and in a place where it was difficult to retrieve.

It appeared the body has been there for at least a couple of days.

"The proximity to this individual's body, along with the other investigation detectives were working, led us to believe that it's possibly connected," JSO Detective Jay Farhat said. "Whether it's related to that or something completely different, we don't know."

It is the fourth death that police investigated on Friday.
