Police: Gunman in SUV fires several shots into Woodland Acres home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A gunman in a dark-colored SUV fired several shots into an Arlington home Friday night, hitting one person in the hand, according to police.

The shooting happened about 7:15 p.m. on Jasper Avenue in the Woodland Acres section of Arlington, about a block from Woodland Acres Elementary School.

Officer Adam Boyd said the shots narrowly missed five other occupants of the home.

He said the victim and several witnesses said there were several men inside the SUV, and one of them shot into the home.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

The motive for the shooting is unclear. Boyd said it's too early to tell if the shooting could be gang related.

The area has several apartment buildings and woman who lives in the area said there are children living on the street where the shooting happened.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
