Police: Jacksonville woman badly burned

Woman taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police say a 58-year-old Jacksonville woman was rushed to a hospital to be treated for burns Saturday night.

Jacksonville police say a motorist alerted them to a brush fire at the intersection of Colcord Avenue and Arlington Expressway about 7:15 p.m. Jacksonville Fire-Rescue responded to put out the blaze and found Mary Ann Gill burned.

A woman who saw Gill on fire pulled her from the woods as crews arrived, police said. Gill was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in life-threatening condition.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detectives and the state Fire Marshal's office are investigating.
