Police: Man arrested in armed robbery at Westside Family Dollar

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 43-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after an armed robbery in late May at a Westside Family Dollar store, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Eric Adams and another man went into the Family Dollar on Firestone Road about 10 p.m. May 25 and held up the employees with a gun, according to police.

The two men then demanded money from the cash register and Newport cigarettes then forced the employees to get on the ground, police said. 

At one point, police said, of the men shot off a round from the gun and then the two ran off. 

Less than two weeks later, employees spotted Adams outside the Dollar General and called police, according to an arrest report. 

Adams is charged with armed robbery. He was booked into the Duval County Jail on $750,000 bond.

Officers continue to look for the other man.
