Police: Man taken to hospital after Moncrief Park shooting

JSO: Man 'stable' after being shot in back

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot in the back early Friday evening in the city's Moncrief Park neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

Officers were called about 6:30 p.m. to a home on West 28th Street near Fairfax Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his back, near the shoulder blade, outside. 

"The witnesses that were there at the time of the shooting said they did not see anything," said JSO Lt. Mike Powers.

The man was taken to UF Health and is expected to be OK, according to Powers. 

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
