6 hurt in crash on Beaver Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The driver and five passengers, some of them children, were injured Thursday night when their Chevrolet Camero crossed the center lane of Beaver Street and struck an oncoming SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the driver, Michelle Jarrell, 29, and two children, ages 2 and 4, were taken to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries. One male passenger was airlifted with critical injuries.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was not injured.

The crash, which happened about 7:30 p.m. near the intersection with Jones Road, kept Beaver Street closed most of the evening.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending.
