Spring clean your smartphone

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Spring cleaning isn't just for your home, tis' the season to clean up your smart phone. There are five things you can do to protect yourself and also make your device run a little bit better.

The first step, update your passwords. According to the experts, you need to have a different password for every account, just in case someone gets a hold of one of them. While that's great in theory, all of those passwords are hard to remember. That's why a password manager is the best way to go. McAfee's LiveSafe, LastPass and PasswordBox are good options.

Next, get rid of files you don't need anymore. This is pretty self explanatory. Just take the time to go through emails, pictures and other files. Also, don't forget to empty the recycle bin when you're finished.

Third, check your security software. Make sure you're running the most up-to-date antivirus, anti-spyware and anti-phishing software. This is crucial to protect your personal information.

Finally, check your social settings. Make sure privacy settings on any site where you have an account are where you want them to be.
