Wife of man found in alley 'not getting a lot of answers'

Korjai Jordan, 32, found dead in alley near Westside High School

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a man whose body was found behind Westside High School earlier this week stepped forward Friday to give him a voice.

Korjai Jordan's wife said she was devastated with the comments posted on social media about her husband after he was found dead in an alley near the school.

She said many people were speculating about how he got there. Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Janita Jordan said what matters is that her 32-year-old husband is gone and their four children will never see their father again.

“He's not just some 30-year-old, 40-year-old black man found in the back alley,” she said. “His name is Korjai Jordan.”

Janita Jordan said her husband was supposed to be out shopping on Saturday.

“I guess he decided to go play pool,” Jordan said. “From that night, they seen him on the (surveillance) video coming out, smoking a cigarette and getting on his phone. That's pretty much all they can tell us. The video stops.”

The next morning a passerby found his body in an alley.

“He's not only a husband. He's a father. He's a son to somebody, and I'm not getting a lot of answers,” Jordan said.

She said she's seen a lot of speculation from the public about what happened to her husband.

That's why she's setting up a memorial to honor her lover of nine years as a man who loved God and was a dedicated father, a culinary student and husband who will be missed forever.

“Tomorrow we lay him down to rest and that's going to be a reality to me that my husband is not going to be here no more,” Jordan said.

Police did tell Janita Jordan that they found her husband's truck at a Rent-A-Center, but they are remaining tight-lipped about what happened.
