Will EverBank Field get a new name in 2018?

EverBank, bought by TIAA in June, has held the naming rights since 2010

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sunday’s drubbing of Houston may have been the Jaguars’ last regular season game at EverBank Field – under that name, anyway.

The Bank, as its known among Jacksonville football fans, could keep its existing name or adopt a new one as TIAA explores a possible rebranding.

A spokesperson for TIAA, which completed its acquisition of EverBank in June, confirmed the news in a statement emailed to News4Jax on Monday.

"Thoughtful research is ongoing to rebrand the company and stadium. If a name change is agreed to, a separate announcement will be made along with the Jacksonville Jaguars in early 2018," wrote spokeswoman Tori Pappas.

The rebranding effort was first reported by the Jacksonville Daily Record, the city's financial and legal newspaper.

EverBank has held the naming rights since inking a five-year, $16.6 million deal in 2010, the Daily Record reported. The newspaper says that deal was extended in 2014 for 10 years and $43 million.
