"Significant fire, we called a second alarm on it, we've had 30 crews working on it at one time. We got it under control pretty fast but it lasted about 30 or 40 minutes, the burn time," said District Chief Mike Allen.

The American Red Cross confirms that they are at the scene as well. They will be assisting people who are displaced by the fire. They said four apartments were damaged and four had to have electricity cut off.

"The cause is still under investigation, we think it's cooking related though," said District Chief Mike Allen.

Red Cross volunteers are currently helping 3 families, a total of 8 people, who were displaced by the fire.  The families are being assisted with temporary lodging and financial assistance to help replace necessities lost in the fire like food and clothing. Volunteers are working with the apartment management to locate any additional people in need of assistance.

Elijaa Segura  lives in a different unit at the apartment complex and said that he saw smoke and flames coming from the building.

"I didn't know what to think about it but it was pretty extreme. It was a little scary to see that," said Elijaa Segura.  "It was pretty alarming."

Fire crews said no one was severely injured in the fire. Witnesses at the scene told News4Jax that at least one woman suffered a minor burn to her arm. Â
