JSO: Man shot in New Town area

Man taken to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot in the leg and torso Sunday night in the New Town area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West 19th Street and Myrtle Avenue in reference to a shooting.

Officers said they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries to his torso and leg.

JSO said the shooter is still at large and detectives have responded to the scene to investigate.

Shell casings were found on both sides of Myrtle Avenue, but it is unknown if they are related to the incident.

No description of the shooter was provided.
