JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 19-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted this week on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping.

In March, Dominique Kelsey and his co-defendant, Ricardo Green, asked the victim for a ride to the store, according to the state attorney's office. The victim agreed to take them because he knew the defendants from his childhood.

Once they got to the store, Kelsey placed a gun in the victim's back and demanded money.

Both defendants forced the man inside the store to withdraw money from an ATM. When that was unsuccessful, they got back into the victim's vehicle, this time with him in the passenger seat, and took $600 from him. They then drove back to where they were originally picked up and fled the area.

Kelsey faces up to life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Dec. 9.

Kelsey's co-defendant pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery and will be sentenced next week.
