Lake City officer charged with DUI after crash

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A Lake City police officer involved in an off-duty, single-vehicle crash Tuesday night was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Officer Staci Brownfield was driving her personal car on Southeast Country Club Road at Southeast Buck Glen about 9:30 p.m. when she crashed.

After consenting and performing roadside field sobriety tests, Brownfield was arrested.

She also consented to providing a breath sample, and her results were a .137 blood alcohol content and .133 blood alcohol content.

Brownfield was booked into the Columbia County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Lake City Police Department internal investigation will commence following the completion of the investigation by FHP.

Brownfield was placed on paid administrative leave.
