JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 28-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested in a shooting late Thursday night on the Westside.

Rafael Soto is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the shooting at the Cross Creek Apartments in the 1400 block of Manotak Avenue, near Lane and Lenox avenues, about 11 p.m.

The scenario of the shooting is uncertain, according to a police report.

Police said there were conflicting statements. They said there were two groups of people, and one started shooting at the other.

Police said there was gunfire from a car, and it may have turned into a road rage incident.

Investigators said Soto shot a man in the leg, claiming he was acting in self-defense. Police said that victim showed up at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

Soto is only charged with the weapons offense.
