Man, 28, convicted of murdering 27-year-old

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 28-year-old Jacksonville man was found guilty as charged Thursday evening of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In July 2010, Brandon Acker and his co-defendant confronted the two victims, 27-year-old Stacy Bell and 25-year-old George Ware, outside of a Friden Drive home, prosecutors said.

They said that during the altercation, which stemmed from an ongoing dispute over drugs, Acker pulled out his gun and shot multiple times at both of the victims. Ware was hit, but later recovered from his injuries. Bell died at the scene.

Acker now faces mandatory life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Oct. 6.
