Police said gunmen believed to be on foot shot up a house with three people at the home.

Harace Sasnett was shot in the leg and taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with non-life-threatening, but serious injuries. He told police he was sitting on his porch when two to three people appeared in the street and started shooting at his house, according to a police report.

Police said the street was littered with shell casings that may have come from a small caliber. Detectives are still investigating to confirm what weapon was used. Seventeen placards marking the casings were counted.

Detective Jeff Overholser, of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, said when police arrived, they found some bullets that had been fired into the home.

"It doesn't appear to be a drive-by (shooting)," said Overholser. "The victim was outside the home."

Overholser said those inside the home said they didn't see anything. Once they heard gunfire, they dropped down to the floor.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
