WOODBINE, Ga. - A man was arrested in Georgia on Wednesday in connection with a murder that happened on Aug. 8, 1993, in Detroit.
Officials began searching for Antonio Deshawn Daniels after Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team and the U.S. marshals took a fresh look at the case. They investigated leads that directed them to southeast Georgia, then to Camden County.
Daniels was located and arrested in a residence in the Point Peter area in Woodbine.
Officials said Daniels initially refused to acknowledge his identity until confronted with fingerprint evidence. He was then taken into custody without incidence.
Sheriff Jim Proctor, with Camden County Sheriff's Office, which assisted in provided surveillance and knowledge of the area, said that communication and coordination were what made it possible to find and arrest Daniels.
"This is a prime example of what is possible when federal, state and local agencies work together," Proctor said. "We always stand ready to render as much aid and assistance to law enforcement from any jurisdiction."
