Man arrested in killing at crab boil

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 31-year-old Jacksonville man is charged with murder in the shooting death of another man at a crab boil late Saturday night on the Northside.

Police were called to the 1500 block of West 21st Street, where they found the suspect, Christopher Anderson, being physically restrained by witnesses. The victim, 42-year-old Armando Jackson, was shot multiple times and died at a hospital.

According to a police report, Anderson got mad after he asked Jackson if he knew about a woman he apparently was interested in. Jackson said he did and then offered a vulgar reply about her, according to the report.

Police said Anderson picked Jackson up by his neck and slammed him down. The confrontation was broken up.

Anderson told Jackson, "Don't be here when I get back," according to the report. He then left the party in his mother's car and returned about 15 minutes later wearing a 9mm handgun on his hip, according to the report.

Police said the man for whom the party was being held tried to stop Anderson from returning, and Anderson told him he wanted to see his mother but the man wouldn't let him. Anderson told police he was able to get past him, and Jackson rushed at him, according to the report. Anderson told police he got scared and shot Jackson, according to the report.

The man for who the party was held told police he tried to calm Anderson down when he returned, and Anderson walked back to his car, got a handgun, approached Jackson and shot him, according to the report.

Anderson was taken to a hospital for injuries sustained while he was being restrained by witnesses.
