Man charged with Baymeadows apartment stabbing

Tyehimba Fort make a first appearance in court Monday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 32-year-old man is facing murder charges, accused of stabbing a 26-year-old man during an argument Sunday morning at a Baymeadows apartment complex.

Tyehimba Fort is accused of killed Joseph Micah Primo at the Avesta Baymeadows Apartments on Old Baymeadows Road.

Fort made his first appearance before a judge on Monday on charges of murder and possession of synthetic marijuana. He was ordered held without bond.

According to a police report, Primo was found lying on the ground behind an apartment building and was taken to a hospital with multiple cuts and stab wounds. He died at the hospital.

Police said they saw a taxi cab leaving the complex when they arrived, and the man inside appeared to match the suspect description. The cab was stopped and Fort was detained.

Police said Fort initially admitted to fighting with Primo but denied stabbing him. Fort was arrested and charged with murder.

On his way to being booked into jail, he asked to return to speak with detectives and admitted pulling out a knife during the fight and using it to cut Primo several times, according to the police report.
