KINGSLAND, Ga. – A 31-year-old Kingsland man was convicted Friday of murder in connection with the 2008 killing of a woman at a Ramada Inn.
Amos Southall was also found guilty of aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance. A sentencing hearing is expected sometime early next year.

Southall underwent a week-long trial for the Feb. 26, 2008, death of Michelle Hainley. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be multiple injuries, including blunt force trauma.
Investigators said they began looking at Southall as the primary suspect and learned he had fled the area, possibly going to the area of southern Florida. The case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to help find Southall, who was arrested May 2, 2008.
"This was a complex case that had a significant amount and wide range of evidence, including DNA, cellphone records and witness testimony," Kingsland Police Chief Darryl Griffis said in a news release.
