JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 23-year-old man was convicted this week on charges of armed robbery, armed burglary, possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis while armed, resisting an officer without violence, and carrying a concealed firearm, state attorneys said Friday.

In September 2012, Robert Travis Culver approached the drive-thru window at the McDonald's on Emerson Street and asked an employee to open the doors to let him come inside.

When the employee refused, authorities said Culver pointed a gun at him and demanded all of the money from the register.

Culver then fired the gun, reached through the broken window and grabbed the money before fleeing the scene, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Officers arrested Culver later that evening, despite his attempt to resist. Authorities said police found marijuana, over $700 cash and the handgun used in the armed robbery in Culver's pockets.

Culver faces life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of March 31, officials said.
