JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A landscaping contractor doing maintenance work at The Lakeside Apartments on Thursday died after the ATV he was riding overturned in a pond, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Gale Johnson, 61, was operating a four-wheeler near a pond at the complex at 8700 Southside Boulevard when it flipped over on top of him and landed in the water, according to police.
Johnson's body was found a few hours later by another worker.
It wasn't immediately known if he was crushed by a four-wheeler or drowned in the pond.
