Man found dead in Oakleaf pool

Foul play not suspected

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A man was found dead in the Plantation Oaks Athletic Center swimming pool in Oakleaf Plantation, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Cornelius Mayo, 42, was found unresponsive at 8:15 Tuesday evening.

Deputies said Mayo was spotted on the bottom of the pool by a security guard who was walking by the pool area. They said Mayo was in the adults-only, lap pool area of the amenity complex.

He was pulled from the bottom of the pool by other residents, one of whom is a nurse who performed CPR in an attempt to resuscitate him but he couldn't be revived.

No foul play is suspected, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Mayo's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office to determine cause of death.
