JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A jury convicted Lee Johnson on Wednesday in the 2009 death of Kenneth Pittman. Johnson was found guilty on charges of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.
Prosecutors say Johnson and co-defendants Earl Johnson and Lamont Brown went to Pittman's home in August 2009 intending to rob him. Evidence showed Brown drove Lee and Earl Johnson to the Baldwin home. Brown stayed in the car while the Johnsons went to the door. When Pittman answered the door, he was shot in the chest. The trio then left the area.

Pittman, 22, crawled outside of his home for help and died. Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office found the 9 mm handgun used to kill Pittman near the victim's home.
Brown pleaded guilty to a charge of accessory after the fact. Earl Johnson pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. Both will be sentenced next week.
Lee Johnson faces mandatory life in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 29.
