Man gets 45-year sentence in nightclub shooting

Antonio Morales

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – Antonio Morales, 24, was sentenced to a minimum mandatory of 45 years in prison on a charge of attempted first-degree murder for his involvement in August 2011 shooting at an Orange Park nightclub.

A Clay County jury convicted Morales earlier this month for the shooting at Club Christopher's. Prosecutors say Morales had been asked to leave the business after an argument, but got into another fight in the parking lot.

Outside, Morales got into another fight with a different person, Kevelin Holmes. Prosecutors say that during that argument, Morales pulled out a gun, shot Kevelin Holmes, then fled in a car.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office spotted Morales' vehicle minutes after the shooting. Investigators recovered the weapon from under Morales' car seat and located a shell casing on the windshield wiper of the car.
